Who is Juan Posada?

Hello! I’m an Aerospace Engineering Master’s student currently doing research in the areas of spacecraft thermal control and electronics cooling using loop heat pipes. I have a passion for the design aspect of engineering, being intrigued by all things technical that require problem solving. It is important to me that I am constantly pushed and given the opportunity to learn new things. I always strive for my work to be as good a possible and I am certainly not a ‘that’ll do’ kind of person.

Colleagues know me as a highly passionate and dedicated individual who is always striving towards establishing a positive and productive environment. From the personal point of view, I classify myself as an outgoing, enthusiastic and ambitious person who likes to take initiative.

I like to keep busy which has lead me to participate in a wide variety of clubs and societies, and adopt various hobbies and interests. In doing so, I have been the proud founder of the Carleton Planetary Robotics Team and I can be frequently found volunteering for the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute (CASI). I feel these have moulded me into a well rounded and practical person with both technical and people skills.

My current interests include taekwondo, general fitness, photography, scale modelling, robotics, and cooking. I also have a passion for travel, and I aim to hike through some of the worlds most famous treks including the Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal, Fitz Roy Trek in Argentina, Yosemite Grand Traverse in California, Long Range Traverse in Canada (Newfoundland), and the Canadian Rockies, among others!

I have an optimistic outlook on life and I plan on one-day spearheading humanitarian efforts towards space exploration and technology; I dream on being an astronaut. I set my standards high and will strive to achieve them.
